Our Commitment To Improve Equine Welfare

From the beginning, our business has been about bettering the lives of horses all over the globe by offering superior quality hoof boots that support a natural approach to horse care and promote the wellbeing of our customers’ equine companions.

With your help, we can raise awareness and funds to support organisations both locally and globally that work tirelessly to protect and enhance horses’ welfare. Through our program, portion of each retail sale will be donated to one of our sponsored charities.

PROJECT HOPE HORSE WELFARE VICTORIA

PHHWV is a non-profit, charitable organisation committed to providing hope for Victorian equines through education, rehabilitation and advocacy.

Project Hope Horse Welfare Victoria Inc. (PHHWV) was established by Val Collingwood in 1973 after she rescued a “supposedly” aged buck jumper who she named “Hope”. Tragically Hope died three weeks after being rescued, the result of suffering from a massive worm infestation. Hope was only three years old.

Since then, the need for the assistance of PHHWV throughout Victoria has continued to grow. PHHWV now has over 400 members, with a large number volunteering their time to help rescue and rehabilitate horses and educate the community on horse welfare issues.

PHHWV aims to assist owners through education, support and advice on how to rehabilitate their own horses; to provide emergency care, treatment and assistance to horses; rescue and rehabilitate any horse found abandoned, sick, injured or mistreated; to educate the community on the plight of neglected horses, and to contribute to the development of improved government legislation and policy.

PHHWV continues to provide vital services which improve the lives of neglected horses in the state of Victoria. All of our work is undertaken by volunteers and is reliant on memberships, donations and fundraising to continue the work we have done so effectively since 1973.

THE THOROUGHBRED RETIREMENT FOUNDATION

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation's mission is to save thoroughbred horses no longer able to compete on the racetrack from possible neglect, abuse and slaughter. It began in 1983 when founder Monique Koehler negotiated a milestone agreement with the NYS Dept. of Corrections to start a vocational training program in equine care and management for inmates.

This unique and life-affirming TRF program has thus helped thousands of thoroughbred horses have the retirement they need, and been replicated at correctional facilities in eight states. Most horses under TRF care suffered career-ending injuries on the track that make them suitable only for quiet retirement as pasture.

However, hundreds of TRF horses have successfully been retrained and adopted out to homes where they began new lives as pets, competition horses, police mounts, or equine-assisted therapy partners. The TRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization entirely dependent on public contributions.
