This past month with Lola has been pretty exciting. As she continues to gain weight, develop a stronger hoof and get to know me, her personality is beginning to really blossom. She is still sweet and loving but she is also a little feisty and opinionated. She loves human attention and genuinely enjoys being ridden and going for in-hand walks.
Lola's new Scoots arrived in the mail and I have noticed a big difference in her willingness to stride out when on gravel while wearing the Scoots.
I am dividing up Lola's walking time 50/50 wearing Scoots and barefoot so we can continue to strengthen her soles but also not push her to the point of discomfort. We are working through winter her in Michigan, USA which means lots of frozen ground and snow so I am glad to have the Scoots to help her out when necessary. I have ridden Lola 8 times as of writing this post almost exclusively walking and every ride she gains more confidence and loses more of her track tension.
Our most recent ride was in a bareback pad and LightRider Bitless Bridle around the yard and down the road. Her first time being ridden down the road and she was calm and confident even when cars went by! I am so impressed with how she is taking to being off the track and transitioning to being ridden bitless.
Stay tuned for the Next chapter where I will be sharing more about Lola's hooves and how I am transitioning them.
